One of the things that continues to astonish me is how lucky we are to read these books from all over the world. So many people miss out on fantastic stories because they only focus on books from their own country or specific genres.
Our moderator, Mia believes this so much that even though she typically avoids sci fi, an Israeli sci fi book is what she suggested this month! While this shocked me at first, it soon made sense because this book has been nominated for & won multiple International awards. The genre was less important to her than reading the best book which just makes me respect her all the more. But this month, I think you'll be pleased no matter which book we end up reading since they're all solid choices across different genres: sci fi, short stories, literature, a memoir, fantasy & crime fiction.
Seven of you were kind enough to send in Israeli book suggestions. To whittle those down to two, we used a site to randomly choose them as shown in this screencast with audio. Special thanks to the book club members whose suggestions made the final list, Kayla Reynolds & Karen Roberts!
